THE 2020 VALENTINE'S DAY ENTHUSIAST

The Valentine’s Day Enthusiast

She’s back with a brand new edition! Nothing blends the feeling of power and femininity quite like the combination of pink and red, but I wanted to expand on the tradition of this holiday and include a few more options for your Valentine’s Day outfit formulas.

I’ve also included some musings (aka ramblings) of scenarios that pop into my head when I compile outfits for posts like these! I’ll never grow out of the phase of thinking life is a movie and daydreaming of various plot points—lol.

Below are four Valentine’s Day looks for your viewing pleasure—The Purist, The Romantic, The Galentine, and The Wild Card. I’ve incorporated purchases as well as rentals from my only cure for incessant shopping: Rent the Runway. Just in case you’re more of a toe dipper and less of a cannonball sort of gal.

I would love to see any of your Valentine’s Day outfits inspired by this post: tag me on Instagram or send me a DM of your killer festive look!

THE PURIST

You’re currently huddled under an awning on a Parisian side street, dodging the sudden rainfall. You and your date are giggling that your night didn’t end up as planned. Heels in hand, you both make a break for the next restaurant awning to take cover. You decide to ditch your dinner plans and head inside to the bar—all you need is a night of bottomless champagne and a double order of dessert anyway.

Can beret and dress coordination become a thing? Festive and fun but still sophisticated and bold! This look is definitely one of my favorites (still seeing if I can snag that A.L.C for V-Day plans of my own!). A perfect mix of the novelty color palette that can all be worn again. Slight Parisian vibes to bring about all of the cinematic romance.

Red Turtleneck Sweater Dress | Pink Vinyl Heels | Red Beret | Gem Drop Earrings | Pink Cocktail Ring | Pink/Red Striped Minaudière

THE ROMANTIC

You’ve stepped on to the balcony to witness the sun setting along the seamless Italian coast. A wind picks up and chases through your hair. A relaxing exhale. You look over your shoulder and your lover throws a soft smile your way, holding a glass of prosecco. Hums of “My Own, My Only, My All” by Dean Martin arrive in the back of your mind.

…too much?! This is what outfit compiling does to my head. A look like this one leans more on the romantic foundation of Valentine’s Day and less on the glittering design. Unfussy, but luxe and delicate fabrics in the organza top and simple midi skirt, richer red tones in the accessories, and a playful overall print achieve a look fit for more date nights beyond February 14th.

Polka Dot Sheer Organza Top | Polka Dot Side Slit Midi Skirt | Red Crocodile Slingbacks | Red Bag w/ Velvet Bows | Red Circle Drop Earrings | L’Oreal Lipstick in True Red (my favorite red!)

THE GALENTINE

Neon nightlife among a jungle of London singles, all happily distracted from the reality of their calendars. You and your best mates just emerged on the scene and you quickly realize—why did you wear a coat?! There’s steam rising from the pack. You’re in no state of holiday distaste, you’re celebrating a chance to bond with your galentines… and pink snakeskin minidresses.

It’s been said before, and I’ll be happy to repeat it: women dress for other women. I love putting together looks to go out with the ladies, because you know they’ll appreciate clever styling! This when I break out my retro silhouettes, quirky accessories, and punchy color combinations. Since I love a femme 60s moment, white knee high boots were an obvious choice for that pink snakeskin mini dress. I opted to show a statement duster coat because I love that it frames out a flirty silhouette underneath.

THE WILD CARD

Maybe you’ll play it solo this February 14th. Take yourself out on a lovely date. Night at the theatre, romantic dinner for one (but I’ll take two desserts, please), or even stop in for some live music you pass by. Get dressed up for yourself. “Damn, girl, you lookin’ good as hell. Lizzo would be so proud right now.” The possibilities are endless, which might be the most romantic night of all.

As you might remember from this blog post back in October, burgundy and pink is a new favorite color palette of mine. Hot pink, light pink—doesn't matter. It’s all marvelous. A suit brings confidence, a band tee brings playfulness, and heels bring femininity. A delightful medley for a night of celebrating yourself.

Maroon Blazer | Maroon Cigarette Trousers | Pink Bowie Tour Tee | Maroon Patent Leather Heels | Maroon/Pink Studded Bag | Triple Heart Drop Earrings
