Yellowstone

MONTANA

For our summer family trip (which we weren’t sure we were going to get to do this year) we joined another family in Big Sky, Montana. Their family is a member of the Yellowstone Club, so a lot of our activities were done there. We went on a super difficult 7.5 mile hike that felt worth it when we finally reached the peak. We did a little photoshoot at the top featured above where I’m playing a deer that didn’t show to set that day (haha). Potsy and the kids went mountain biking every chance they could get.

On our second day we went as a family to Yellowstone National Park—a place that Potsy and I were dying to check off our list and about an hour from Big Sky. It was fairly busy and it seemed like most people were headed down the one lane highway to see Ol’ Faithful. We turned around and headed in the other direction to see as much as we could rather than waiting in traffic. We saw the Steamboat Geyser that’s actually the tallest in the world!

We desperately wanted to see a bear in Yellowstone, but sadly we had no luck. We did see TONS of bison and two beautiful elk. The town of shops right outside of the park is filled with souvenirs and retro ice cream and fudge shops—very kitschy Niagara Falls style.

The one thing that really surprised me was my adjustment to the altitude in Big Sky. I didn't expect to be affected by it so much but I was. I was super tired and definitely noticed less oxygen on the hike.

I’ll say, this trip was difficult to pack for and gave my some anxiety. Personal style is the one thing I can control and I’m sure you can guess, I don’t own a lot of hiking and “outdoors” clothes that are my style. I know they’re out there! Obviously this trip wasn't about fashion, it was about being with my family and enjoying nature. Just wanted to say sorry if you came looking for a super-cute packing guide—lol. Maybe another trip when I can actually dedicate some time to researching brands that are more my style and feel like me.

Highly recommend Yellowstone and visiting Montana! We were really grateful to take a trip and be safe while doing so.
